Timeless

her deep brown eyes

are touching a moonless sky

and during the car ride home

it's the stillness of the autumn night that settles her

it’s the stars she’s gazing at that quiets her

in this moment she is looking at something beyond her universe

she hears nighttime’s darling words

mirrors the sweet nights aching verse

soaks in the deep nights breaking verse

for night time is a jazz singer

and as the darkness scats a broken melody

the radio sings one too

it’s singing die for you by the weeknd

and she feels dark watery colors walk in and out of her mind

she’s walking in and out of time

encountering

the night

the music

and herself

all at once

as if for the first time

she knows the night is young and so is she

and as the radio whispers to her the sweetest songs

she hopes to herself that the music her mind is lost in

is as timeless as she will never be
