Living in the real world

Life isn't fair.

These words we've all heard at some point in our lives when complaining about how something isn't fair. The past year wasn't fair to any of us. The events of 2020 and 2021 have not been easy to deal with.

It says a lot that I know whoever is reading this knows what I'm referencing when I say ''events.''

I also know I'm not the only one who has been shocked, disgusted, confused, and concerned because of these events.

Asking myself questions like...

Is this even real?

Is this actually life?

What even was that?

Is this what the world has come to?

It's comforting and horrifying at the same time to know that we have all been going through it.

Comforting because we're in it together but horrifying because we're in it together.

We're teenagers, we should be living our lives. We should be making memories that we will look back at and smile when we're older. We should be having fun. We shouldn't have to worry about how going to a party would be putting our lives at risk. How going to school might not even be safe.

We've been experiencing the pandemic, the stress of distance learning, feeling detached from society, and missing out on what could and should have been some of the best times of our lives.

All of these things have been taking a toll on our mental health.

You are not alone.

Know that you are loved and have support.

Please take care of yourselves.
