Introduction

To me Zendaya has always been an important part of my childhood. Some know her from the recent Spiderman movies while others-just like me-grew up watching her on Disney. She played in the t.v shows and

movies, Shake it Up, K.C Undercover, Zapped, and Frenemies. All of which I have watched and consider them childhood classics.

What’s she up to Now

Zendaya left disney channel in 2018 to pursue more serious and mature roles. Which did disappoint many but also ended up being one of the best decisions in her career. Not much later, in 2019 she ended up landing one of her biggest roles ever, Rue, in the drama series Euphoria. Very quickly this show grew in popularity. Which led to her winning her first Emmy for outstanding lead actress during the 72nd Emmy Awards in 2020. Then two years later, she won the same award for her leading role as Rue this year, 2022. Which makes her the youngest, and first black female to win two emmys in this category.

Why is this a big deal anyway

As an African American girl growing up in this world, it's almost like a ray of light to see someone of color accomplish something as big as this. Even though our country is trying to do better we still aren't a place where black people feel fully represented. So to see a familiar face -like Zendayas- it shows all the black children across the world that if this is what you want you CAN do it.
