2021 has come to an end and 2022 now begins: for some this means a sigh of relief and a contentful smile, however for others this may bring about anxiety and confusion. Especially as Gahanna Lincoln is preparing to schedule for next year and prepare for the school year to begin coming to a close, our student body is dealing with an immense amount of stress. For this reason I’d like to start with a small reminder to any and all parents/administrators/and teachers who may be reading this…please go tell your kid or student that it's ok. Tell them that they are doing a good job and that you have their back. You may not be aware that some words of encouragement are necessary.

During times like this school, sports, clubs and the overbearing stresses of adolescence overwhelm me and as a result I lose control and this negatively influences my health. An example of this is my bedroom. I will go back and forth between 8 hours of school, 4 hours of practice and other activities and the outcome of this is a very messy looking room such as the one pictured. To help with this increasing mess and avoid giving my mama a heart attack I follow the 7 thing rule. You can choose any number you please however 7 is my lucky number. Now that you have picked your number I’d like you to try to do that number of things in a healthy way that improves your organization and overall life. So for me I pick up and put away 7 things in my bedroom everyday. Some days this is extremely difficult because I feel exhausted and burnt out and in moments like those I want nothing more than to crawl up in bed. You may feel this too nonetheless I encourage you to simply do your own 7 things and if you can only do 1 thing a day then that is fantastic. I applaud you either way. The goal of this exercise is that you can avoid procrastination and get done the things that you need to get done in a timely manner. You are doing an amazing job and please keep pushing because your 7 things are waiting for you.
